Human Resources - Job Outlook
The job outlook for human resources professionals is outperforming other types of jobs. According to the U.S.
Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, human resources jobs will grow about 18 to 26 percent until 2014.
A growing work force, an increase in the number of college graduates, increase in international trade and more
employment-related legislation (e.g. changes in health care, family leave policies and pensions) will fuel the
demand of human resources specialists.
Training specialists are increasingly important as technology continues to evolve at a breakneck speed.
Workers constantly must be trained to keep up with the advancements in technology. The trend in outsourcing tasks
in order to reduce costs includes having firms that specialize in many functions that used to be in-house and human
resources is one of those functions. Often outsider firms are being used to administer payroll and benefits,
recruit staff and train staff.
Human resources workers earn a median annual income of anywhere from about $42,000 to $82,000, depending on the
specialization.
